Dress Between Seasons

Seasons come. Seasons go. In between their coming and going, what do you wear?  The changing seasons can effectively make it difficult for you to find the right dress because the weather can become rather unpredictable. You could never predict whether the bright sunshine warming up your face right now will turn into a rather weepy, wet, and cloud-covered sky in a few minutes. Yet, despite the weather’s unpredictability during the changes in seasons, you can still remain stylish. In this article, you will learn some tips on how to dress between seasons.
Dress according to season. If you are at the tail end of one season and are about to enter into the next, make sure you are ready for the coming season. So, as winter begins packing up, you should do the same to your winter clothes. You will not need your dark-colored boots, hosiery, and thick turtlenecks for spring or summer. In their place, you can wear brown or tan boots together with dresses that are appropriate for the coming spring or summer. To keep the balance, wear a sweater or blazer on top of your new spring clothes.
Wear clothes in layers. Three layers should be enough. Wearing more than three might keep you too warm for comfort during spring or summer season. For the innermost layer, you can wear a tank top. On top of it as second layer, you can wear a sweater. As your outermost third layer, you can wear a jacket. Never wear three shirts in layers. It will be very warm and uncomfortable. Worse, it can make you look foolish. Make sure that you wear at least one layer that is structure (for example, a knee-length coat or a blazer). Stick to neutral colors, if you can. You can wear clothes with colors from the same family, but be very careful about going overboard. Contrast can create a really visually pleasing effect on your layers. You can also try mixing and matching fabrics. Silk or cotton, for example, looks perfect with cashmere.
Show your skin. Especially your legs. Save the stockings and socks for rainy days. Show how wonderful your bare legs look by wearing flats (e.g., ballet flats) that have true soles and heels. Avoid wearing flats that are sole-less or heel-less, as they actually look like slippers. Under inclement and rainy weather, you can wear rain boots, but do step into real shoes once you get out of the rain.
Thin your cover. Thick covers such as winter coats are ideal for winter. For spring and summer, go for the thinner covers. A safari-style jacket is as perfect a cover as a waist-cinched trench coat. If you want to look updated with your cover, you might want to try the sixties-style A-line coats that are becoming popular these days. Such coats look nice on top of trim pants and little dresses.
Prepare for rain. A richly colored umbrella hanging from your arm won’t do much damage to your look. In fact, it may just complement your fashion style while keeping you armed for unpredictable rain.
Seasons may come and seasons may go. Let them. Your fashion sense still remains, although with some minor adaptive adjustments.

Do you believe that you can look sexy even if you don’t have the perfect 36-24-36 body. Yes, you can! The secret: know how to choose the right dresses to complement your unique body shape.

Are you an hourglass, an apple, a pear, or a rectangle? An hourglass has a curvy body with a small waist. An apple has a large upper body with broad shoulders, a wide waistline and lean legs. A pear is the opposite of an apple: narrow shoulders and large hips and thighs. The rectangle has little curves and looks somewhat boyish. No matter what your shape, here are the basic things that you should keep in mind.

Color. Color accentuates your best features while taking away attention from problem areas. Dark colors appear to recede. The areas of your body where you have worn dark clothing will look minimized or slimmed down. Light colors emphasize and make body areas look bigger. To look tall and lean, wear tops and bottoms of the same color. To diminish your height and add a few pounds visually, wear contrasting clothes.
Texture. The material of your clothes will affect how you look. Rough and bulky fabrics will add size to the wearer. If you like to add pounds to areas of your body, you can wear these over them. If you are petite, bulky clothes will overpower your figure. Smooth and clingy fabrics are figure revealing. To hide problem areas, wear tailored or stiff fabric instead.
Hourglass. An hourglass can flaunt her curves and draw attention to her slender waist by wearing fitted dresses and belts. Wear almost anything you like, just as long as your top and bottom half are balanced. If you dislike being an hourglass, make your figure look leaner by wearing similar colors on the top and bottom half of your body.
Apple. If you're an apple, you need to balance the largeness of your upper body. To make your waist look narrow, wear belted dresses or anything that cinches you in the middle. Wear high-waisted pants or skirts to hide your tummy. Balance your slender legs with your upper body by wearing flared plants, or draw attention to them by wearing short skirts.
Pear. If you're a pear, you have a great upper body and you need to hide your plump thighs and hips. To balance your hips with your shoulders, wear tops with wide necklines. Draw attention to your upper body by wearing tops and shirts with colorful patterns. Wear light tops to make your upper body look larger, and dark bottoms to minimize your lower body. To draw attention away from your legs and hips, wear short jackets that end above your hips. Wear A-line skirts or other skirts that fall away from your bottom half.
Rectangle. If you're a rectangle, create an illusion of curves by wearing tailored jackets that flare at the hips. To make your hips and legs look plumper, wear low rise jeans that are lighter in the area of your thighs. To draw attention to your bust, choose tops that have detail and patterns on the chest. Wear designs that add dimension and bulk to your figure.

You don't have to be an hourglass to look sexy. Wearing the right clothes can do wonders for your figure.

How To Dress for New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve parties are an exciting and fun way to kick off the New Year.
Whether you're keeping it small with a group of a few friends or family members, or if you're going to something larger like a party at work, you're probably wondering what you should wear to this event.  There are a few different things to consider before you go shopping such as if this event will be more formal or casual, and how much you want to spend.

If your place of employment is hosting a New Year's Eve party, it will more than likely be semi-formal.  This means a nicer dress for women and a shirt and tie for men or the equivalent.  There are many great dresses out there to choose from for a New Year's Eve party.  You can choose a short, fun dress with thin straps or a long, fitted dress to show off your figure.  Make sure and get some shoes to match. These should compliment the outfit, but still be comfortable to wear for a few hours at a time since you'll be bringing in the New Year. You can complete the look with some great accessories such as earrings and a necklace. These dresses can be found at different women's store or juniors' clothing stores.

For men, consider choosing some khaki or dress pants with a button up dress shirt and tie or vest.  You can find these at lots of different apparel shops.  Men can choose a decent pair of jeans or khakis and a polo shirt.
For a more casual event, you can go with several different options.  For an evening at a friend's house, you'll still want to look attractive and somewhat dressed up.  For women this can include a fun dress, some black pants and a dressier shirt or even some nice designer jeans and a dressier shirt or sweater. Jeans and pants are a more practical choice, and you might feel more comfortable in these.  When choosing a shirt to go with them, you'll want something that looks classy and attractive.  Consider choosing one made out of silk or satin.  For those who like it, you can also choose a shirt that's got some detailing like beading, or one that is made out of sparkly material.  Bright colors can be fun too.  To complete this look, just add some fun shoes.
wonderful new year look!!

Develop your Signature Style-image

Have you ever being told "that's so you" when looking at an article of clothing? If so, then you're well on your way to developing a signature style. A signature style clearly defines you and is recognizable to others. Here's how to turn your everyday look into a signature style

1.    Think about your favorite fashions. A signature style is a particular style that is considered your personal style. Your signature style can be defined by a very particular fashion statement, such as a pair of glasses, a type of hat, a certain hairstyle, or more broadly as a type of fashion that you wear daily. Relying on a specific type of accessory is an easy way to start your own signature style. Assess your current style to get inspiration for your signature style. Developing a signature style isn't about changing your current style completely, just refining it.

2.    Narrow down your signature style. If you feel like your everyday fashion is too boring to become your signature style, look through fashion magazines or walk through the mall, trying to find ideas on a particular style that suits you well. Try on things you might not normally choose, and look for items that you believe work with your personality and lifestyle. Your look could be retro or modern, sporty or sophisticated, girlie or more unisex.

3.    Try out your new look. Try to dress for a week straight in your signature style. Are you comfortable wearing these items? Do you get any compliments about your look? If the answer to both of these is ‘no,' then you might want to continue tweaking your signature style. You can try lots of different looks before settling on a signature style. If the style you pick doesn't feel like "you," then it's not the right signature style, and you should keep looking. When you find the right signature style, it should feel like your personality expressed through clothing.

4.    Be willing to change. Just because it's your signature style doesn't mean that it can't change over time. Don't keep hanging on to a particular style just because you think others expect it from you. You will change over time, and you may latch onto new fashion trends. Don't be afraid to change your signature style.
5.    Keep it realistic. Even if it is your signature style, you can mix it up a little. Avoid dressing head-to-toe in a particular fashion every day of they year, unless you want it to look a little costume-like.
Develop a signature style to make your fashions memorable to others. This is a lot easier than it seems; you can start simply by choosing your favorite type of accessories and incorporating them into lots of different looks. Your signature look should be a fashion that defines you.

Plan Your Wardrobe for the Week

Planning things out ahead of time can really take some of the hurry out of our week.  One of the things you can do is plan out your wardrobe for the week in advance.  To do this, first think about what activities your week will entail.  Your next step would be to set a part of your closet aside for your planned wardrobe every week.  This will give you the space to plan and keep your wardrobe organized.
Now, you will simply decide what it is you want to wear.  You should start with your career wear first.  An easy way to save time and money with career wear is to invest in suit separates.  Suit separates may be a skirt or pant which can be worn with any shirt or corresponding blazer.  This will help you plan your wardrobe for the week, because often with suit separates you can wear them more than once in a week by changing one element of your outfit By doing this you can have a whole new look and save money at the same time, especially on career shoes

Now that your career wear is all planned out, you want to make sure you have clothing set aside for any after-hours activities.  Think about your upcoming week.  Do you have a sporting event to attend, a night out with friends or a date?  Invest in a good pair of jeans.  You can wear jeans to a sports arena with a t-shirt, or add a nice top and a pair of heels for a night out with friends.  If you have a date, take the nice top and match it up with a casual skirt or slacks.
Once you have your wardrobe planned out, see if any ironing of the garments needs to be done.  Having the clothing ready to wear can save you loads of time.  Under each planned outfit place the shoes you plan on wearing.
Your undergarments should also be kept in a ready to wear organization.  The less fumbling through your clothing in the morning the quicker you get into the office.  Just because you planned out your wardrobe in advance does not mean you can’t accessorize.  You can either have a spot set aside for these items or simply loop any   around the hanger of the outfit you wish to wear it with.
When planning out your image look for the week you need to figure in your variables.  Try and have a few things in mind as regards the weather, spills, or even not feeling like wearing that when you see it that morning.  The key to these situations would be to always keep your closet clean, neat, and organized

Dressing for a Casual Dinner Party

Been invited to a casual dinner party, and you’re wondering what to wear, fret no longer. A casual dinner party is one of the easiest occasions to get ready for, and it’s very likely that you already have a wardrobe piece or two that will present an image that will perfectly fit the occasion. However, there are some things that you would have to consider before you take out that polo shirt you get as a gift from a friend. Get some tips before you misrepresent yourself at the party.

Get the meaning of casual. Casual is less than semi-formal, and it could cover wardrobe pieces such as (for women) a comfortable, flowery dress with sandals, dressy jeans or slacks, and any flattering blouse; and (for men) dark jeans or khakis with a button-down dress shirt or collared polo. Go with a few timeless pieces and opt for neutrals in classic cuts, and you should do fine.

There are a few levels of “casual”. Remember, casual may mean the ordinary clothes that you wear when you’re going out shopping, but then again it may not. The key here is to consider the venue of the dinner party. If it’s at a restaurant, you may want to dress up a little. If it’s an outdoor dinner or dinner at a close friend’s house, feel free to be a little more casual.
Up the level a little bit. If you’re not sure what type of casual the party is, know that it’s always best that you come a little overdressed, than a little underdressed. How could you level up the casual, without going overboard? First, opt for darker tones such as black, navy and gray, instead of pastel colors. Second, choose solid colors, instead of patterns. Third, go for smooth textures over rugged ones. You should also accessorize a little with pearls and a classic timepiece; this will help you up the elegance factor even if you’re only wearing simple clothing.
What not to wear. Never go for ill-fitting clothes, such as low-waist pants or too-tight blouses. The key here (for any type of dress code) is to go for clothes that fit you excellently. Steer clear of torn or ripped clothing, even if these tears are intentional designs. Avoid wearing T-shirts that pose risqué slogans or those with violent innuendoes. Avoid wearing shorts and flip-flops: these may be acceptable for brunches or lunch parties, but not as much for dinner gatherings.
Makeup simple. Avoid over-the-top colors and stick to neutral tones such as beige, tan and coral. A general technique for looking effortlessly beautiful with make-up is to highlight one feature at a time. If you want to emphasize your eyes, feel free to do so, as long as you keep your lipstick simple. On the other hand, you could wear dark red lipstick but keep your eyeshadow barely-there.
There you have it! These are just some of the guidelines you should know when it comes to dressing up for a casual dinner party. Remember, comfort and fit here are key, and once you have these factors down pat, you’d be free to truly enjoy evening and the food! Express your individuality.

Image is Everything - The Importance of Personal and Professional Branding

Branding and personal image management is the ongoing development of the perceived value of an individual or business, in relation to its competitors, as viewed by an audience -and whether you have a small start up or a mega-franchise or are simply trying to market yourself, branding should be at the forefront of your mind.
There are two main types of branding- personal and professional- and both types are extremely crucial in the success of an individual or business. Here are some tips that can apply to the development of both types of branding.
Image should not be contradictory- you cannot market yourself or your business as one thing but speak, dress, and act as another. It's important that you stay true to who you are and what you want to portray. As long as you are honest with yourself and others, it won't be difficult to maintain consistency in branding your business and/or yourself.
o Brand should be easily accessible and identifiable- if you Google your name or your business' name what would you find? If there is any information there at all, is it accurate and consistent? If you are less than satisfied with the results, be sure to do what you can to correct it. There are plenty of articles out there that help you figure out how to successfully use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to build your personal and professional brand.
o Be consistent in your brand development- you cannot expect to build or change your brand overnight. Branding is an ongoing process that should be taken seriously and given much thought. Create a daily, weekly, or monthly block of time for you to focus on branding. Once you find a method (or methods) that work for you, stick with them and monitor how effective they are.
o Be careful where you leave your footprint (mouse-print) - although the internet is a great tool to build your business and your brand, it can also prove to be a place where images are destroyed. Pay attention to the pictures you let circulate, the comments you leave on others' blogs, and the social networks you become a member of. With the click of a mouse, anyone can learn all about image, If it fits into your image and brand, then there's no problem. But if it doesn't, it can put a damper on the way others see you.
Personal and Professional branding, if used correctly, can really give you the competitive edge as you grow your business. It's important that you take the time to carefully develop and maintain a brand that will prove to be a positive addition on your journey to success.

How To Choose Accessories that Reflect Your Personality

Typically, people usually wear or add certain accessories to their get up either to enhance the overall look and image or to express their true selves.  Yes, the right accessories can bring out your personality.  This is why most people are taught to look at what people wear to find out little tidbits about the true person behind the fashionable façade.  Sherlock Holmes was good at it and so should you as well.  Anyway, when you want to exude a certain image, you will always turn to accessories.  This being the case, it is important to match the accessories to the personality or image you want other people to perceive.  Here are some tips on how to do just that.
Know what you want to express.  Before proceeding with the selection, it will be critical to know the kind of image you want to exude.  Do you want to say that you are confident with a tinge of class?  Do you want to appear artsy?  Do you want to seem like the intellectual but cool type of person?  Do you want to appear the athletic and suave type?  Determining your image and what you want others to perceive about you will dictate the kind of accessories you will need to wear, style, color, and design.
Consider colors.  While most people consider purchasing high end accessories to achieve a certain look or image, this is really not necessary since picking the right color accessory can be the difference you need.  For instance, if you want to combine class, sophistication, and confidence, then going with black accessories will be a veritable option.  If you are looking for the smart casual image, then going with blue and green accessories is
         definitely the smart choice

Consider design and style.  The design and style of each accessory you plan to wear is critical if you want to exude a particular image.  For instance, wearing a lot of accessories with a modernistic style and design such as a belt with a lot of metal ornaments or a set of stainless steel bangles can actually make you image a little bit more sophisticated.  On the other hand, wearing a lot of rugged leather accessories may make you appear a little bit too country.  Hence, if you don’t want to appear like a cowboy, then consider sticking with modern accessories.
Complement and enhance.  A lot can be said about a person based on how his or her chosen accessories complement and enhances the actual clothing he is wearing.  For instance, if you are wearing a lot of black clothing to make you look impressive and confident with a hint of neutrality and you mix it with a mixture of stainless steel accessories, then someone may perceive you to be exactly what you want them to perceive with a dash of sophistication added to the mix.  This being said, make sure that the accessories you choose and wear will mix and match well with your clothing and your personality.
It is quite hard to define the various tips and suggestions on how to choose accessories that will bring out your personality, whether genuine or fake.  It will basically rely on what you really want other people to believe when they see you

How to Dress Well

Here are the basic rules about clothes:

First and foremost, clothes must fit well! It doesn't matter how great a shirt is if it looks ill-fitting. It doesn't matter how much a pair of pants has been marked down if it pulls into a pronounced "starfish" shape where the legs meet the crotch. Simple clothing that fits well is far better than fancier clothing that just "doesn't look right."

If you are interested in pursuing a casual ragged, torn-up clothing look, proper fitting is the difference between looking great and looking like a slob. Next time you see a man or a woman who looks great in the torn-up style, notice how well the clothes fit them. You'll notice they fit perfectly, which is why the style works.
Some clothing stores are better for the average man than are others. If you are a bit overweight, some of the more hip and upscale stores may not have clothes that fit you well. Keep shopping around to different clothing stores. Very often one store will have an entire line of pants, for instance, that don't fit you right. It's just the way their clothes are cut. Another store, on the other hand, might have a wide variety of pants that fit you. It's a good idea to keep shopping around until you find a store where the clothes fit, they look good, and the salespeople help you expand your style.
How do you know when clothes don't fit well? Often, the salespeople will tell you, though you can't count on that. If you are shopping with a friend, he or she can also tell you. The bottom line is simply this: if you don't feel like the clothes fit, they don't. Don't waste your money, and move on to the next piece.
The second rule of clothing is that clothes must be clean! Because most men are "clothes blind," and can't seem to tell when clothes need laundering, let's briefly go over how you know when it's time to wash something. If it's underwear, and you've worn it, wash it. With shirts
and pants, you can be more discriminating.
To tell if shirts and pants are dirty, look at them under bright light. Are there any spots or stains? If there are, rub the spot with stain remover (buy it where you buy detergent), and wash. Pants also need laundering when they start to
get baggy and wrinkled. Blue jeans are especially susceptible to stretching and getting baggy. When this happens, it's time to wash them.
The third rule of clothing is that clothes shouldn't be wrinkled! Yes, you might have to iron your shirts and pants, or have them ironed. Cargo pants, for instance, are very popular now, and often have pockets with flaps that stick up and look ridiculous if they aren't ironed.
The fourth rule of clothing is that you must keep clothing in good repair! Look under "Seamstress" in the local yellow pages, and get buttons sewed back on, holes patched and rips mended right away.
Wearing clean, well-fitting, ironed clothes that are in good repair has multiple benefits. Not only do you look good, you also feel good. Your style of dressing will naturally send out the message to women that you are attractive, together, and of interest to her.
If you are like most men (and you probably are, right?) you aren't going to be able to transform your style of dressing without help. Look at getting help from:

1. Stylish Men. Who do you know who has a great sense of style? Approach stylish men you know, and ask them for advice. Ask them where they shop for clothes, and where they get their hair cut. Then go to those places and ask the sales clerks to help you with a "new look." They'll often suggest clothing you wouldn't normally get for yourself, but that your style could "grow into."

2. Women. Another intelligent way to shop is to find a stylish woman who you are not interested in sexually, and ask her to go shopping with you. One of our students had a tremendous experience the first time hedid this. He went to Cindy, and asked her to go shopping with him. He knew she had an extraordinary sense of style, but also wasn't interested in her sexually, so it wouldn't matter if they became friends. She had only one requirement: he must promise to buy  everything she told him to until the three hundred dollars he'd set aside for clothing was gone. It turned out she gave him great advice, and some of the hardest purchases to make, such as spending fifty dollars on a tie, turned out to be some of the best. For months he got compliments from women on how great he looked, all because he was willing to commit himself to looking good. "It was hard at first," he said later. "A lot of the clothes she told me to buy, I didn't really want. But it turned out to be great, and did a lot to help me create my personal style."

3. Male Friends. It's good to go clothes shopping with other men who are also developing their personal style. The right men friends can help encourage you take fashion risks, and look even more attractive to women.
In time you will develop relationships with stores you like, where you know you can trust the clerks to suggest new style ideas that will both express your true self and make you even more attractive to women. One of our students who often wears a cowboy hat that looks great on him got the hat that way. "I'd never considered a hat like that before," he says. "But when the clerk brought it over and set it on my head, it looked great. I knew right away it was right for me, and I never would have found it by myself." As you buy more clothes, you will discover
what you really like, and what kinds of clothes really make the kind of statement you want to make to women

Fool Mother Nature

10 Fashion Fixes to Turn Back Time
Nutrition, fitness and advanced cosmetic procedures may keep you well preserved far beyond the teen years.

But if you don't keep up to date, your wardrobe will end up telling your true age. Try these easy tips to make you look (and feel) younger:

Good Jeans

You don't have to don the latest skinny jeans, but a nod to current trends shows you're up to date. Look for a dark wash, slim (not skinny) legs with a boot cut.

Raise the Waist

Take advantage of empire shapes that create a waistline that is higher (and slimmer) than your natural waistline.

Shoes Matter

We're all for comfort. But even upscale labels like Cole Haan have comfort options so there's no reason to go around wearing white sneakers with everything.

The Handbag Tells All

Why schlep a matronly organizer bag when there are plenty of modern, roomy options on the market? If you need to pack heavy, try a high-end designer tote.

Wear a Pretty Dress

Nothing is girlier than a feminine dress, especially when it features flirty details and shows off a bit of skin. Want more cover? Add a delicate wrap or a soft cardigan.

Have Some Fun

Remember how much fun it used to be to play dress up as a girl? Mismatch prints. Wear a loud colour. Mix a punk bracelet with a preppy polo shirt. Shatter the myth that women of a "certain age" are supposed to be restrained.

Go Long and Lean

Recapture the figure of your youth by using visual tricks to produce long, lean lines. Slim-cut jeans with a bootcut bottom, topped by an empire top, finished off with high heel boots are a good start.

Follow a Silly Trend

Go ahead: slip on footless tights or don a newsboy cap. If you try to keep up with every trend you'll just end up looking like a fashion victim (this applies to every age). But following the occasional trend can jolt you out of the fashion doldrums.

Slick on Flavoured Lip Gloss

No one will know but you and your sweetie, but it will definitely turn back the clock to those early teen years when this little bit of makeup made you feel so cool!

Get a Lift

Give Mother Nature a helping hand by using the right undergarments to lift, tuck and hold your way back into your high school figure.

Power-dressing for professionals: corporate and casual

POWER-dressing isn't what it used to be. In years past, professional women were trapped in dull business attire, even while attending after-work events. But in today's more colorful corporate world, as the accompanying photographs indicate, you shouldn't feel trapped by a basic-black-and-pearls dress code. New options, fashion experts say, include colorful leather blazers, must-have bags and briefcases, and gorgeous scarves and accessories.
When updating your spring wardrobe to incorporate stylish casual flair, make certain that your everyday professional look is polished, office-friendly (for your specific work environment) and on point.
THE RULES: Corporate Attire

The business professional look includes a conservative suit in a solid or pinstriped pattern. Preferred colors are navy, dark brown, gray and black. White and pastel-colored blouses are acceptable. Pumps with a closed heel and toe accessorize your suit. There are two levels of business attire: Business professional (the most conservative corporate dress) and informal business professional (a more relaxed version of the business professional look).

The informal professional look incorporates more pizzazz and color--in jackets, sweaters and blouse styles--and even dresses and skirts in silky prints combined with tailored jackets and sweaters.

When selecting your workday wardrobe, be aware that every company has its own work environment and often unwritten dress codes.
To evaluate the dress code of your office, take a look at the movers and shakers around you. Look at those Sisters who are in the big offices, those who are making decisions in the boardrooms and presented as the "ideal face" of the company.
What are they wearing? How are they dressed day in and day out?Be true to yourself by experimenting with products that suit you best.

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR WARDROBE

It’s the eternal problem of a closet full of gorgeous clothes: making sure that you actually WEAR them. What good are all those amazing pieces if you wake up with 5 minutes to throw something on for class and go? How is it that some people can look so put-together no matter what, while others usually look like complete trainwrecks?
It’s all about “wardrobe management”, or knowing exactly what you have and how to work it.
Learning to manage your wardrobe can be beneficial in a number of ways. It can save you time, money, and can make you look far more stylish and put-together. It’s an absolutely essential skill to master if you plan to invest in quality pieces, or if you just want to make the most of what you already have.
My Top Tips For Wardrobe Management:
  1. Spend time coming up with new looks.
I know you might hate to hear it, but it’s true – looking fashionable isn’t always effortless. If you want to take full advantage of what you have, you need to spend some time planning outfits. Whenever you get new clothes, shoes, or accessories, try them on with different stuff you already own! Once you know what goes with what, getting dressed will be a snap.
  2. Get a second opinion.
Go through your closet with your most fashionable and honest friend. Try things on and get her opinion. Your friend might also help you come up with new outfit combinations that you would have never thought of on your own.
  3. Take photos of the looks that work.
If you really need help with your style, you could create your own “look book” of outfits. After you spend time going through your clothes and creating outfits that work, lay all the pieces down on the floor with matching shoes, handbag and other accessories, and snap a photo. Polaroids are the quickest, but regular or digital photos are fine too.
  4. Write it all down.
You might also find it helpful to write down the names of which pieces you chose on the back of each photo, just in case you’re in a hurry. And it’s good to keep all the photos together too, so it’s like an archive of your style. Any time you need to get dressed fast, just turn to your personal look book and a great outfit will be all ready to go.
  5. Digitalize it.
If you’re more into digital photos than polaroids, there is a great site that can help you with wardrobe management.
My Style Diary is a community where users take pictures of their outfits and post them for all to see. It offers you an easy way to save all your outfits in one place, and also serves as a great source for wardrobe inspiration.
Ultimately, wardrobe management is not a one time only deal, but rather an ongoing process that you will need to repeat whenever you get new clothes or accessories. 4 Tips on Dressing for a Job Interview

Tips on Dressing for a Job Interview - Your interview attire is more important than you think so let your talent and personality get you noticed, not your wild tie or brightly colored socks. The right clothes give you an opportunity to make the right impression. I have outlined 4 important tips on dressing for a job interview.

Fragrance

On the day of our interview, before you even begin to get dressed, there is one thing you should avoid. You may be tempted to follow your normal routine of splashing your favorite cologne or aftershave on after you hop out of the shower. Don’t do it for your interview, you don’t want to overwhelm the interviewer. They may not like your fragrance as much as you do.

What to Wear. . .

To a more formal interview: It helps to know how formal the company you will be interviewing with is and if wearing a suit is necessary. I hate to state the obvious, but it is important to go in a suit and tie to any company that's part of a more formal industry, such as banking, law or brokerage. Choose a basic black, dark gray or navy suit. Also opt for black leather lace-up shoes and a black belt. Blue shirts are a great choice since they compliment most skin tones and easily coordinate with most suit colors. Choose a flattering tie that goes well with both the suit and shirt you have chosen.

To a less formal interview: Some less formal industries such as software development and technology companies will not require a suit. However, it's better to wear something a little nicer than what everyone in the office is wearing. So choose something dressy but casual. Such ensembles might include pressed khakis or trousers, a well pressed button-down shirt, and of course some sort of nice looking dress shoe and matching belt. You may even want to thrown on a blazer. Navy blazers look great with khaki pants.

Shoes and Belts

Pay attention to details such as matching your belt to the color of your shoes. Choose black shoes if your outfit consists of dark gray, navy, brown or black. Opt for dark brown shoes if you'll be wearing tans or medium toned colors. I hate to sound like your mother, but polish or clean your shoes before your interview. Scuff marks on your shoes make you look tattered, and we can't have that.

Accessories

Keep interview accessories minimal and professional. Use some sort of bound portfolio to carry your resume, references or other papers. Men should limit jewelry to a wristwatch and cufflinks if you wear them. Earrings, necklaces, nose rings, and such are not interview material (for the man who wants the job anyway). Whatever the type of industry, men should wear jewelry sparingly.

Keepyour image aapearanc Consistent

Your appearance is a communication tool, use it to send a consistent message

Within seconds, your appearance communicates a number of factors about you. If you send inconsistent messages the viewer will see it. People believe what they see.

If there is a discrepancy between what you say and what other see, they will choose what they see. In the case of cheap shoes paired with an expensive suit, the viewer will most likely think you don’t pay attention to detail or don’t understand the importance of finishing “things off”.

The wonder of the wardrobe

I do know that you have a wardrobe. Don’t you? Can I ask you a question? How much importance have you attached to it? No so much. Isn’t it? Let’s briefly look at something interesting about a wardrobe - I mean your wardrobe.
Your wardrobe serves as a ‘robe’ that you put on (in your world). It’s more like a ‘world-robe’. You have your own world and so do I. We are in our own world where we have the authority to rule; we rule with our talent and skills. Any where you are expressing your skill and talent right now is your own world. But also know that this talent is (and can) never be enough.

In our world today, the most celebrated people around us are not usually the well talented people. The later are only perceived as talented/ skillful in what they do, or are doing. The way you appear will always determine how you will be perceived, which will affect how you will be appreciated. When you appear ‘dull’, you spread the rumor that you are ‘dull’. And that would go a long way affecting you performance and position in that environment. It’s also the other way round.

How we are perceived as human is becoming increasingly important in the ‘new economy’. Let me say it again: Your wardrobe is your world-robe; the symbol of your authority. You are only respected in the manner you express yourself. A king will only be respected as a king until put on the symbol of his authority. Your value as a person (king) in your own world rises and falls in harmony with your appearance. And this controls people perception of you, and what comes afterwards.

Find out what makes your look ‘click’ and hold unto it. More so, endeavor to ‘tweak your look’ to express your true individuality, making it more personal. Your perceived value of yourself is what will be appreciated and it may not even be your inherent value (what you really worth).

The power to control people’s perceived value of you is in your hand, is in the way you express yourself with some ‘panache’ through the power of your wardrobe.

How to Dress When There is a Dress Code

What to Wear for Casual, Semi-Formal, Cocktail & Black Tie Events

When invitations come with a dress code, read carefully; learn what clothing is most appropriate for casual, cocktail, semi-formal, formal & black tie dress codes.

You want to make an entrance at a party and make a statement. To make sure that statement is “Wow,” and not “Huh?” read invitations with a dress code carefully, know your audience, and dress accordingly.

Casual Attire
Casual dress code basically means that (almost) anything goes, subject to good taste, of course. Dressing casually means that you can choose something that is comfortable, which probably won’t require a shopping trip to assemble the outfit, but please do make an effort! Casual – as in “Casual Fridays” does not mean that it’s okay to wear pajamas, sweat pants or track suits, fitness gear, or skimpy clothes.

Avoid wearing clothes emblazoned with slogans and logos, and while jeans are generally considered to be acceptable for casual events, for a more pulled-together look, it's wisest to wear fashionable, designer, or dark wash denim and reserve worn, ripped or tatty jeans for yard-work or vegging out at home.

Dressy Casual Dress Code
Dressy casual – also known as smart casual – means that pants and trousers are acceptable, but jeans are not, even $300 designer ones. Trendy and fun tops are a great choice for dressy casual, but don’t wear a T-shirt. Business casual is a tricky variation of dressy casual in which low-cut, cleavage-baring tops are a no-no.

Cocktail Attire
Cocktail attire means you should wear a short dress, and you can let your most fabulously fun self shine when putting together an outfit for the cocktail attire dress code. Choose a fantastic short dress, killer high heels, and funky and expressive jewelry. Other dress codes which are pretty much synonymous with cocktail attire include: black-tie optional, informal, and semi-formal.

Black Tie Dress Code
Black tie attire is nearly always reserved for evening events in which you can blossom into a beautiful, butterfly and live the fashion fantasy version of who you are. Men are expected to suit up in tuxedos at black tie affairs, and women are expected to wear a long dress or a cocktail dress. But just because all the guys will be wearing black it doesn't mean that you have to; take this opportunity to stand out from the crowd by wearing bold colors, fabulous jewelry, and any other accessories that help make your statement and entrance absolutely smashing.

Formal is the same thing as black tie. Creative black tie means there is a theme – but be careful that you don’t come off looking like you’re wearing a costume. And white tie is a souped-up version of black tie, where you should wear a ball gown.

Stereotype your Style

It’s human nature to use little bits and pieces of information to form an overall impression.

Sometimes just the mention of a certain group conjures up an image of that group. Next, we fill in the details - how they look, dress, what they represent. It’s called a stereotype and it doesn’t always have to be negative, it just “is”.

Now, we can’t change how the world thinks, but we can dress to associate ourselve with the "right" group. For example, if you look like you belong to a certain group (i.e. bankers, lawyers . . . thugs), others will think of you as having similar values, attitudes and other characteristics associated with that group’s image.

Carefully choose the stereotype you want to be associated with, then dress for it.

Choosing The Best Clothing Colors77

Trying to find a color that works for your skin tone isn't the easiest thing in the world. Here are some quick tips to help you choose:
1. Fair Skin - If you are a blond or a redhead, you need to stick with dark colors. Your pale skin looks even worse when paired with white. Go with navy, blues, basic black or a sage green.
2. Sallow Skin - If you look a bit yellow or green, you definitely need to avoid wearing these colors. A yellow shirt will just make you look like a giant banana. Go with whites, blues and black.
3. Darker Skin - You have it made. Pretty much all colors work for you. Stay away from dark browns or dull colors that don't highlight your gorgeous color.
Now, let's move onto eye color and what will highlight your features:
4. Blue Eyes - If you want to bring out your baby blues, you've got to wear blue. Look for shirts that match the color of your eyes. This will really make them more noticeable.
5. Brown Eyes with Red Tones - If you have dark brown eyes that have flecks or stripes of red, you need to go with warm tones to highlight them. Stick with oranges, reds or yellows.
6. Brown Eyes with Green Tones - If you have a hint of green in your eyes, you'll want to bring it out. Purple, especially plum, is the ideal color to do this. You'll be amazed at how green your eyes look.
7. Green or Hazel Eyes - These eyes can get lost in a color shuffle. If they are green, wear similar green colors to draw attention to them. Hazel is a little more difficult. Pick the color you want to draw out the most - for blue, wear blue, for green, wear green.
So, that's out the way...
Let's move onto what season you are. Yes, this will actually help you find the right colors for you. First, look at the underside of your arm. Do the veins appear blue or green? If they are blue, you are a cool tone. If they are green, you are a warm tone.
8. Cool Tones - Winter/Spring - These skin colors look best in primary colors. Look for bright shirts in teal, purple or Kelly green. You can get away with bold color choices. What colors do you associate with Winter and Spring? This is your jumping off point for color choices.
9. Warm Tones - Summer/Autumn - These skin colors need earth tones. Neutral colors or pale primary colors work best for you. Think of the season to help you pick the right colors.
10. Stuck in the Middle - If you have a skin tone that's really neither pale nor sallow, you can get away with mixing up your warm and cool tones. Pair bright bold colors with a more subtle earth tone to capitalize on your versatility. For example, a bright blue shirt will work well with a pair of drab khakis.
